JOB DESCRIPTION: Full Time Clinical Audiologist-Vestibular

Position Overview:

The Audiologist, as part of the Audiology Department at National Dizzy & Balance Center (NDBC), is responsible for testing patients of all ages to determine vestibular etiology. This role involves various tasks outlined in the Audiology Manual.

Hours:

  • Salaried, Monday through Saturday, at least 32 hours/week.
  • Expected to work 1 opening and 1 closing shift each week.
  • Monthly schedules assigned at least 6 weeks in advance based on clinic need.
  • Punctuality and good attendance are essential.
  • Temporary decrease in hours or coverage at another clinic may be required if clinic needs arise.
  • Paid time off and other schedule deviations subject to approval by department manager.

Typical Physical Demands:

  • May require prolonged sitting and standing.
  • Occasional balancing, bending, crouching, or kneeling.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Involves the use of audiological and neurotological testing equipment and supplies.
  • Normal range of hearing and eyesight required.
  • May involve lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to guard patients against loss of balance and transfer patients.

Reports To:

  • Director of Audiology

Duties:

  1. Document patient care services, including evaluations, follow-up notes, and charges in a timely manner (not exceeding 50% of non-patient time).
  2. Demonstrate commitment to developing knowledge to promote NDBC as a preferred provider of evaluation and therapy for dizziness, balance disorders, and concussion.
  3. Maintain the department goal of 80% billable time.
  4. Document accurate billing of services per CPT coding guidelines in a timely manner.
  5. Demonstrate teamwork by sharing in clinical projects, accepting feedback, and communicating with administrative staff.
  6. Participate in clinic rounds meetings, reporting unusual or interesting diagnostic cases with the multidisciplinary team.
  7. Participate in clinic and Audiology Department meetings to enhance the quality of the diagnostic neurotology program.
  8. Follow through with patients regarding the plan of care, communication with medical staff, case managers, and recommend further evaluation as appropriate.
  9. Complete all QA competencies set forth by the Audiology Department.
  10. Participate in clinic-related responsibilities of the Audiology Department as assigned by the Audiology Director (e.g., maintain diagnostic neurotology equipment and supplies, balance lab maintenance, new employee training, etc).
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Performance Requirements:

  • Knowledge of professional practice as defined by the AAA.
  • Accurate attention to detail with efficient follow-through.
  • Skills in using neurotology diagnostic equipment and supplies, and computer proficiency.
  • Confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Master or Doctor of Audiology degree from an accredited program.
  • Current or eligible for Minnesota License to practice Audiology.
  • Ability to demonstrate independent judgment and initiative appropriately.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize appropriately.
