Friends and Colleagues Remember Galen Berry, Ph.D

Share:

Friends and colleagues of the Minnesota Academy of Audiology fondly remembered Galen Berry, Ph.D, who unexpectedly passed away on June 29th, 2008.

Galen Berry, Ph.D was one of the pioneers in the autonomous practice of audiology. He had a private practice in River Falls WI that he sold several years ago to work as a regional representative for Oticon. Most recently he had purchased the Sedona Hearing and Speech Center in Sedona, Arizona and had moved there just over a year ago. Galen was patient-focused and was loved by those he served as well as his staff for his commitment to providing for the hearing and balance needs of his patients.

His practice included balance and tinnitus evaluation and treatment as well as hearing aid evaluations and fittings. From his early beginnings as a professor of audiology at River Falls to his practice and professional associations he was committed to advancing the profession and was a strong advocate for the Au.D movement. All who knew Galen knew his passion for his work and his dedication to the profession.

Dr. Berry was also involved in his community and was the co-founder and director of Camp Casey, the Sedona Way, part of the Diabetes Education and Camping Association. He was an active member of the Lions Club and vice president of the Sedona Referral Group and also a member of the Horizon Ski Club. His hobbies were sailing, biking, backpacking and skiing.

Anyone who had ever met Galen will long remember his smile and his great laugh. He had an appreciation for life and a respect for the environment. We have lost a dear friend and colleague and champion for our profession. Galen, you will be missed but always fondly remembered.
