Social Networking Engages and Connects with Consumers in Local Markets.

SOMERSET, NJ August 11 – Oticon, Inc. will again support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the launch of the “Hear in Pink” campaign.  The national campaign combines compelling messages about hearing health and breast cancer awareness and helps to raise funds to support lifesaving research. During September and October, Oticon, Inc. will donate a portion of all sales of the special edition pink Alta2 and the entire Alta2 family to the National Breast Cancer Coalition to help find a cure for a disease that represents one of every three cancers diagnosed in women.  The campaign will expand reach of its important messages through social media components designed to engage and educate consumers in local markets.

“The ‘Hear in Pink’ campaign gives hearing care professionals a unique opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to community health and wellness and build practice visibility and loyalty,” says Oticon President Peer Lauritsen.  “For consumers, the campaign offers a compelling incentive to choose a premium hearing solution and, at the same time, support a deserving cause.”

Hearing care professionals are invited to help spread hearing health and breast cancer awareness messages by checking out Oticon’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/OticonProfessionalsUS. “We encourage practitioners to like our Facebook page and learn how they can support the ‘Hear in Pink’ campaign in their local communities,” says Senior Marketing Manager Nancy Palmere.   “New postings will be added throughout the campaign to maintain the momentum and provide hearing care professionals with positive, awareness-building messages to share with their social networks.”

In addition to the strong social networking elements, Oticon will promote the special edition pink Alta2 with a range of “Hear in Pink” marketing materials including newspaper ads, inserts, and desktop displays.  Customized press releases and direct mail invitations will further extend and reinforce targeted outreach to local communities.

Hearing care professionals and their staffs are also encouraged to show their support by wearing special design “Hear in Pink” t-shirts and participating in local noncompetitive Breast Cancer walks that take place in cities across the country in September and October.

In October, Oticon will host a “Hear in Pink” celebration at the Somerset headquarters where staff from a local medical center will be on hand to provide breast health and wellness advice. For the eighth consecutive year, Oticon employees will again team up to participate in a NY/NJ area fundraising walk in support of breast cancer awareness.
