Practitioners Use Social Networking to Engage and Connect with Consumers in Local Markets.

SOMERSET, NJ August 7 - Since 2007, Oticon, Inc. has been “thinking pink” for a very worthy cause – breast cancer awareness and research.  This year will be no different as Oticon again supports National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the launch of the seventh annual Oticon “Pink with a Purpose” campaign.  The national campaign combines compelling messages about hearing health and breast cancer awareness and helps to raise funds to support lifesaving research. During September and October, Oticon, Inc. will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the special edition pink Alta and the entire Alta family to the National Breast Cancer Coalition to support breast cancer research.  The campaign will expand reach of its important messages through social media components that create new opportunities for practitioners to engage and educate consumers in their local markets.

“Our professional partners tell us that they welcome the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to community health and wellness through the Pink with a Purpose program,” says Oticon Peer Lauritsen.  “The campaign gives new and existing clients an added incentive to choose a premium hearing solution and, at the same time, support a deserving cause.  For practitioners, the campaign creates another opportunity to engage consumers with relevant information that benefits them and helps to build practice visibility and loyalty.”

Hearing care professionals are invited to spread the word by checking out Oticon’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/OticonProfessionals. “We encourage practitioners to like our page and learn how they can support the campaign in their local communities,” said Senior Marketing Manager Nancy Palmere.   “They can also help to expand reach of the program by tagging us in their posts and sharing their posts with clients, friends, family and anyone in the community who might benefit from information on hearing health and breast cancer awareness.” New postings will be added throughout the campaign to maintain the momentum and provide hearing care professionals with positive, awareness-building messages to share with their social networks.

In addition to the strong social networking elements, Oticon will promote the special edition pink Alta with a range of Pink with a Purpose marketing communications materials including newspaper ads, inserts, and desktop displays.  Customized press releases and direct mail invitations will further extend and reinforce targeted outreach throughout their communities.

Hearing care professionals and their staffs are also encouraged to show their support by wearing special design Thinking Pink t-shirts and participating in local noncompetitive Breast Cancer walks that will take place in cities across the country in September and October.

In October, Oticon will host  the company’s annual Pink with a Purpose celebration at the Somerset headquarters where medical staff from a local medical center will be on hand to provide breast health and wellness advice. Oticon employees will also participate as a team in one of the country’s largest American Cancer Society fundraising walks in New York City’s Central Park.
