Beyer, a second generation hearing aid specialist, and an 11-year member of IHS, has been a staunch supporter of IHS’ Fit to Serve campaign, which aims to provide more accessible hearing care to veterans. Beyer led IHS outreach efforts with Congressman Sean Duffy (R-WI) which included obtaining local radio time to not only promote Fit to Serve, but he also arranged to have Rep. Duffy interviewed about his work to help veterans. He took the remaining airtime to educate listeners about hearing loss and the valuable role of hearing aid specialists in hearing healthcare. Beyer is very active at the local level, including with the Chamber of Commerce and with other business networking groups. He utilizes the connections he makes to rally additional support for Fit to Serve. Through his participation in a local farm show, Beyer made a key connection with the commander of a local American Legion post, which led to IHS meeting with the national office to educate staff about the challenges veterans are facing in accessing timely and convenient hearing care. And, after presenting with a colleague to a committee of the American Legion, Department of Wisconsin, IHS gained support from the organization’s executive committee.

Longtime associate, Scott Lau, ACA, BC-HIS, recognized Beyer’s extraordinary talents, “Todd is a sole proprietor of an individual practice, and some people don’t recognize the commitment it takes to do that, and be on the IHS board, and to be President of the Wisconsin Alliance of Hearing Professionals, being sent to travel and participate in many regional and state associations, and have the ability to communicate like Todd does – and then do this in a positive and excited spirit with a platform is very unique.”

In addition to helping many patients daily and advocating for veterans, Beyer also serves as the central territorial governor, and treasurer for IHS, and he accepted the role of president for the Wisconsin Alliance of Hearing Professionals.

IHS Executive Director Kathleen Mennillo expressed about Beyer, “I am beyond proud that Todd was selected for this honor. In his role as IHS territorial governor, Todd continues to go beyond the call of duty to exceed the requirements of IHS leadership again and again. He makes every effort to meet and engage with as many members and chapters as possible in order to make sure they are as informed about the state of the profession and the Society as possible.” Mennillo went on to say, “As the IHS treasurer, Todd takes this leadership role to heart and mindfully monitors the financial health of the Society and provides valuable guidance during financial planning to ensure long-term viability for IHS. In everything he does, he is fully committed and is an example to all others, and that is true leadership!”
