Voting Is Now Open for 2016 Oticon Focus on People Awards!

Oticon Focus on People logoSOMERSET, NJ June 20 – Voting is now open for the 2016 Oticon Focus on People Awards at Oticon.com. Website visitors are invited to cast their vote for the 12 finalists who represent the "best of the best" from this year's nominations in each of four categories – Student, Adult, Advocacy and Practitioner.  The finalists range from students whose have accomplished much in a very few years to adults who use their unique talents to open worlds of possibilities for others with hearing loss.  There are passionate advocates who have logged thousands of hours on behalf of hearing causes and dedicated practitioners whose caring and commitment consistently go above and beyond.

The total number of votes received by each finalist will help to determine who will be the first, second and third place winners in each category.  Winners receive prizes and national recognition that helps to change attitudes that can create opportunity for all people with hearing loss.

The Oticon Focus on People Awards honors

The Oticon Focus on People Awards honors people with hearing loss who are changing perceptions and opening doors of opportunity for all people with hearing loss. Cast your vote for this year's winners at oticon.com.  Pictured here are winners of the 2015 Oticon Focus on People Awards.

“We encourage everyone to visit the Oticon website and meet some truly remarkable people who show that hearing loss does not limit a person’s ability to achieve, contribute and inspire,” says Senior Marketing Manager Nancy Palmere who heads the awards program.  “Our goal is to reach as many people as possible with the inspirational stories of our Oticon Focus on People Awards finalists.”

This is the 18th year that the Oticon Focus on People Awards has honored hearing impaired students, adults and advocacy volunteers whose accomplishments show that hearing loss does not limit a person’s ability to make a positive difference. By celebrating the achievements and contributions of people with hearing loss, Oticon aims to change outdated stereotypes that discourage people from seeking professional help for their hearing loss. 

Voting is open now through August 15, 2016.  Winners will be announced on September 28, 2016.  To vote and to learn more about the Focus on People Awards, visit Oticon.com or the Oticon Expo Page on AudiologyOnline.
