Question

I heard that Sonic is releasing a new product. Can you tell me more about it?

Answer

You heard correctly! Sonic is proud to launch our newest product, Bliss. Bliss is available in two technology levels (Bliss100 and Bliss80) to match the patient’s individual lifestyle and hearing needs. Bliss uses Speech Variable Processing makes sounds clear and natural in a variety of listening situations. In addition, it has Bluetooth™ compatibility which makes it easier for your patient to connect to their environment.

Question:  How many different models are in the Bliss product line?

Answer:  There is something for everyone in the Bliss series. Bliss is available in a variety of sizes, including four custom models (CIC, CICP, ITCPDW, ITEPDW) and a miniBTE. The miniBTE can be fit with a standard earhook or thin tube configuration.

Question:  You mentioned Bluetooth compatibility - what accessories are offered?

Answer:  Great question! First of all, a Bluetooth bridge device – the SoundGate – is needed to communicate via the instruments and the external accessory.  We then offer a TV Adapter and a Telephone Adapter.  With all of these accessories, your patient will be fully connected to their environment.

Question:  Hearing in the presence of background noise can be very difficult for people with hearing loss. Does Bliss have any features that will help in those situations?

Answer:  Patients consistently state that noisy situations are the hardest environment in which to hear.  Designing solutions that address speech understanding in noise is an integral part of who Sonic is – Speech Understanding in Noise is one of the tenets of our 4S Foundation.  Bliss uses a combination of several features to help combat noise. Soft Noise Reduction reduces distracting low-level noise in the environment, Speech Priority Noise Reduction provides comfort while preserving underlying speech signal, Wind Noise Reduction provides relief from loud distracting wind noise and Impulse Noise Reduction suppresses unexpected loud sounds.

Question:  With the release of Bliss, what version of software is needed?

Answer:  EXPRESSfit 2013 is the latest version of our software that is used to program Bliss. In addition, it will also program the Flip miniRIC and Pep, our entry level product line.
