This course concentrates on basic vocabulary surrounding the audiology office, audiology equipment, multidisciplinary teams, as well as describing the test and giving instructions to patients in order to complete a comprehensive hearing assessment. The course also includes basic cultural greeting norms and some phonetical tips to improve pronunciation. We are setting the foundations to bring language-concordant care to clinical encounters.

Learning Outcomes
- After this course, participants will be able to list and describe five audiological tests that are part of the basic comprehensive hearing test battery in Spanish.
- After this course, participants will be able to list at least ten audiology clinical instruments and supplies in Spanish.
- After this course, participants will be able to explain the importance of practicing test instructions to a patient in Spanish to complete the basic comprehensive hearing test battery.

Alejandra Ullauri
Dr. Ullauri is a bilingual audiologist licensed in the state of Illinois, and the author of Audiology Services in Diverse Communities. She is a native Spanish speaker, born and raised in Ecuador. Dr. Ullauri studied Audiology in the U.S. and in Australia, and she has been fortunate to practice the profession in both languages: two years in the United Kingdom, twelve years in the U.S., and seven years in Ecuador. She is also a member of the National Association of Medical Spanish and a verified Physician Oral Language Observation Matrix (POLOM) rater at the Center for Clinician Multilingualism. Dr. Ullauri currently participates as a subject matter expert on pediatric hearing screening methods at the National Center on Health, Behavioral Health, and Safety. Dr. Ullauri is committed to excellence in Audiology and in training the next generation of Audiologists. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education. She is also American Board of Audiology Certified (Audiology Preceptor or CH-AP).
