Reddot award 2017Moxi Now brings home Unitron’s first-ever top prize for product design and the company’s 4th and 5th consecutive Red Dot: Product Design awards.

April 4, 2017 – Kitchener, Canada – Unitron, a global innovator of advanced hearing solutions, today announced two significant new wins on the product design world stage. For the first time ever, Moxi Now has been awarded top prize for product design by the internationally esteemed Red Dot organization. The world’s smallest wireless receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing instrument was voted RedDot: Best of the Best 2017 for top design quality and ground-breaking design by the Red Dot jury of 40 recognized experts, selected from a field of thousands of global entries. Stride M, the smallest member of Unitron’s Stride family of behind the ear (BTE) hearing instruments, is also recognized this year with a Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017.

This marks Unitron’s fourth and fifth consecutive Red Dot awards and the company’s first Red Dot “best of the best” recognition.

“To be named “best of the best,” by the Red Dot jury, and to be selected for top prize from a field of thousands of incredible designs is a tremendous honour,” says Bruce Brown, Unitron Vice President of Global Marketing. “It clearly demonstrates to the market Unitron’s global leadership in hearing instrument design.”

Moxi NowA perfect combination of aesthetic and functional design

The Moxi Now hearing instrument, released to market in the Fall 2016, is designed to make the patient experience simple and enjoyable. The world’s smallest wireless RIC hearing instrument represents the perfect combination of aesthetic and functional design. Unitron’s product design philosophy puts the patient at the centre of design innovation. This is evident from the hearing instrument’s physical design to the enduring value of its performance. Tiny, beautiful and shaped through an organic and smooth design language, Moxi Now provides wearers with all day comfort. Stride M, released in the Spring 2016, is Unitron’s smallest BTE, while offering the highest output of any 312 BTE in the industry.

“In the design of Moxi Now, we approached the hearing instrument’s performance with the same human-centred philosophy that governs its design,” says Andre de Goeij, Unitron Director of Product Management and Product Marketing. “The result is an exceptionally well designed, fully automatic device that wearers can set and forget, allowing them to enjoy natural sound with a focus on conversation. The real-world data on a patient’s listening lifestyle, captured by Moxi Now, also provides healthcare professionals with new insights to improve the wearer experience, create deeper engagement and personalization and ultimately improve quality of care.”

“Wearers of the Stride M hearing instrument require more power, which typically comes at the cost of a larger size. However, our design teams understood that patient acceptance begins in the hand. They embraced the design challenge to put demanding performance into a small, powerful BTE, with a beautiful and comfortable design and a single easy-to-use control for those with dexterity challenges. It is fabulous to see their exceptional work recognized by the Red Dot jury,” added de Goeij.
