About the Area

Lexington was once known as the “Athens of the West.” Much of that culture remains in the now mid-sized city of roughly half a million people, with a walkable downtown, world class urban art adventures, universities, a burgeoning restaurant scene and of course its location smack dab in the middle of bourbon country.

Nestled in the rolling plateaus of the Bluegrass Region, with the mean average temperature hovering around 55 degrees, the soil and land has forever been prized as premier pastureland, perfect for its other nickname, the “Horse Capital of the World.” Well-rounded with an affordable cost of living, a thriving economy propped up by education, health care and manufacturing, and endless access to nature—especially for country road cyclists—Lexington is consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in the nation.
