I have been in private practice, ENT and now in a big box store. The private practice was where I got my start and we had the same approach and were the oldest dispenser in the state. I still use this approach in the big box store (even though other methods are recommended and expected). After 12 years, some of my patients are purchasing their 3rd set!

Test drives are a relatively new approach to dispensing hearing aids and convincing providers it is a better option than the traditional methods is a major obstacle to overcome, but this explanation should eliminate some of the doubt and reservations they have.

The course is discussing what we all know is true because we all know about trial periods. The problem is most pratitioner have reservations on giving it for longer periods for various reasons. The financial presures of many clinics that need money to meet their running costs make them reluctant to wait long to request for payment. The cause mentioned this and offered reassurances on that. Again the course is presented in a simple format and simple language.

I totally agree with the concept of "HTAD"-my main problem with it as an employee of an extremely busy ENT practice, is this would not beacceptable practice for my boss! However, I will use some of the arguments for doing a HTAD( even if modified ( i would do it this way if I could )

It was very "down to earth" in making the case for HATD. I've been using Flex products but now I will be requesting demos from other Manufacturers.I did have a problem with ASP and KPI which were acronyms not familiar to me, and I could not find them spelled out anywhere in the text.

It's emphasis on addressing the reservations/distrust of patients regarding traditional HA fitting protocols is important. The Hearing Aid Test Drive approach is not new by itself, however, not requiring any investment at all from the patient other than making and coming to the appointment may be! It is amazing and encouraging in this day and time to hear that this approach has been so successful for him and his patients.

Great insight into your successful Aud business but not all that innovative an idea! This is common practice in NZ. Good suggestion to market the HA test drive though. Quite often clients have very little idea on what to expect from an appointment and this would demystify things.

This is a fascinating concept. We were previously a private practice that offered "free trials." However, after an acquisition, we had to eliminate the "free trials," due to a management decision. We have seen huge changes in out practice and patient pursuit of trials. I really appreciate the term "hearing aid test drive" versus "free trials." I plan on readdressing this topic with management in hopes of going back to our previous business practices.
