Heavy reliance on personal opinion - for example, the presenter's commentary about how they don't use greetings in email because as an autistic individual, they prefer to get to the point and not waste time with pleasantries reserved for 18th century correspondence delivered by horse. Personal examples tended to skew towards mockery. Instead the presenter could focus on research that shows how individuals with autism may prefer communication via email over in-person or phone communication. Data.

I am so glad to see this topic! I am myself, have worked with, and am a parent of neuro-diverse persons. You are SO RIGHT about female Dx of ADHD. Not to mention other issues. Females were not included in medical studies until quite recently. I have figured out myself that I have ADHD within the past few years. I am over 50 years old! I literally laughed out loud when you mentioned how "typical" people do a puzzle. I thought I WAS typical! :)

I was very interested to learn the different perspectives on the ethics in health care--it prompted a lot of new thoughts! I was hoping for more clinical relevance and how we might be able to support testing neurodivergent children or ways to advocate or support families. A little different than what I was expecting, but still appreciated the presentation!

A variety of images to accompany the text would be helpful for following along visually. With so much text one a white background within a presentation, the material can mush together when there aren't additional visual aids.

Self-diagnosis and identification is not valid or scientific. Audiologists should be following evidence-based practices and not lean into social media nonsense.

I was expecting this to be more research-based and have more information to caring for neurodivergent people in the field of audiology. In my opinion, this was more focused on two clinical professionals' personal experiences being neurodivergent in the field of audiology and then there was one slide on the vague accommodations in a general classroom setting (NOT audiology specific). I was expecting more of a bridge between audiology and neurodivergence, and I didn't feel like this was achieved.

This had a lot of good information. This may be perceived as not an appropriate comment by the presenters. One of the items we, as presenters, must do is share information in a non-biased manner. Sharing information about one's personal experiences seems to bias the information. I would encourage rewording these examples as they are powerful examples, but frame them in a context so that the information does not come across as biased or one-sided. Represent the group, not your own experiences.

I appreciated the topic as a whole. I have late diagnosed ADHD (a year after completing my doctorate) and have felt the need to blend with my neurotypical collogues. I picked this CEU because my daughter and I both have ADHD. I learned a lot! I have not heard anyone use these terms before, "Autism Spectrum CONDITION" & "pathologize" but they were both enlightening compared to ASD and a traditional pathology/disorder. I also really enjoyed learning about the different ethical perspectives; they were broken down in a way that was easy to understand and you could see the advantages and disadvantages of each.

This is a topic that directly affects me and that I have not seen anywhere else, either in or out of school. I am neurodiverse and received significant pushback during my audiology externship and my first clinical position. I have found it difficult to advocate for myself and market my strengths and had little to no guidance during my training. I most often received the message that I could not be good at audiology due to my neurodiversity whether intended or not.

Shade provided a more level-headed buffer that was necessary to break up Kate's personal opinions. I was more receptive to listening to the perspective Shade provided, as Kate presented themself as someone who has few good things to say about neurotypcial people, especially medical professionals. I felt attacked for being a neurotypical audiologist trying my absolute best to help all patients who have hearing loss, therefore I am "uneducated" in concerns to treating neurodiverse individuals.

As a neurodiverse audiologist, I don't feel this represented me well. I have a different take on my own neurodiversity. I also think the fear of being labeled as having a disability in itself is ableist. I have a disability/disorder/pathology and I'm totally cool saying that. The words "disorder" and "disability" aren't dirty words to me. To each their own though. Thanks for diving in to a tough topic!\
