Grand Rounds CEU Courses

This pediatric grand rounds presentation presents the unique characteristics of six pediatric patients with hearing loss. Out of the box thinking and collaboration are tools used to achieve best outcomes.

The process of obtaining and being successful with a cochlear implant is a complex process. This course, using real case studies, details the nature, components, and communication of successful cochlear implant care by an interdisciplinary team.

This course focuses on cases that incorporate aspects of medical audiology and considerations for audiologists providing patient care in this population.

This Grand Rounds, in conjunction with the University of South Dakota, will present cases where an unfortunate event caused an impact on patient care or outcomes. Each case will highlight a different misstep, the implication on patient outcomes, and how the audiologist can improve patient outcomes despite an unfortunate event.

This course will describe the language barriers often faced at an audiology practice in a major metropolitan hospital, and how these barriers are overcome to provide the best patient care. Different specialty areas of audiology will be discussed, including auditory processing disorders, adult amplification, and pediatric cochlear implantation.

This course focuses on cases of patients that present with interesting or unique situations and information that leads to effective diagnosis and treatment. The goal is to provide insight from each case that will influence patient care.

This course covers the integration of audiology services in an established Neonatology clinic. Risk factors and case studies will be reviewed and discussed to highlight the importance of collaborative care for this high-risk population.

This course will look at cases where students had difficulty and how preceptors can use simulation to conduct training and remediation to assist the student in becoming a better clinician. A variety of simulation modalities, methods of assessment and ways to use them will be discussed.

This course is presented by faculty and AuD students at The Ohio State University. Five challenging pediatric cases that incorporate current evidence and perspectives of patient care will be discussed. Each case provides “take-home” messages to incorporate into clinical practice.

Presenters from the Audiology program at the University of South Dakota provide specific, real-world cases exemplifying considerations, benefits and limitations of various means of service-provision aimed to support the population of a rural/frontier state.
